Peterisms - My Guiding Principles
-
Adults need to see the Big Picture.
When you land on a NEW SCREEN, always start with the Big Picture.
-
Adults need to tie new concepts to old concepts.
Ask yourself: what common student experience can I relate this issue to?
Create ONE-OF-A-KIND diagrams.
Learn the current workflows of the organization.
-
Adults will get frustrated if YOU confuse them.
Always start with the SIMPLE and move to the complicated. Be methodical.
Less well said, is more.
-
Repetition aids learning.
Obey the 3 Ts: Tell them before, Tell them, and Tell them after.
-
A spoonful of humor helps the medicine go down.
